Delaware State announces 2002 football scheduleApril 12, 2002Dover, DE --- Two new opponents and six home games highlight the 2002 Delaware State University football schedule, announced by DSU Director of Athletics Dr. Hallie Gregory. The Hornets kick-off the 11-game schedule on August 31 against Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA. This will be the first meeting between the teams. The 2002 season will be Morris Brown’s first as a Division I-AA program. The Wolverines were 5-6 last season. After the home opener September 7 against Savannah State, the Hornets will welcome first-time opponent Northwestern State (La.) to Alumni Stadium on September 14. The Demons, members of the Southland Conference, were 8-4 last season. They lost to eventual champion Montana 27-19 in the first round of the 2001 Division I-AA tournament. Northwestern State has reached the I-AA playoffs in three of the last five years. The 2002 homecoming contest will be November 2 against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) rival South Carolina State. The Hornets will observe Parents’ Day during the Hampton contest on October 5. Delaware State will also entertain MEAC foes Florida A&M (Sep. 21) and North Carolina A&T (Nov. 9) at Alumni Stadium during the 2002 season. Delaware State University 2002 football schedule
