Elizabeth City State Announces Search for Men's Basketball Coach

ELIZABETH CITY, NC - Elizabeth City State University has begun a national search to fill the position of Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

Barry Hamler, who served in that position for seven years, will not be returning for the 2002-2003 season.

Despite a 121-69 record at ECSU, Hamler's Vikings suffered through their second consecutive season with a losing record. ECSU was 12-14 last season after compiling an 11-15 record during the 2000-01 season.

“We are grateful to Coach Hamler for the contributions he has made to our program during his tenure,” stated Dr. Edward McLean, ECSU Athletics Director. “We felt that at this time a change in leadership is needed to take the program in a new direction."
