This is the second year the game has been played in Kingsville and it will be the second time the contest has been televised. Fox Sports Southwest can be seen throughout the Southwest Region of the nation, and is also available for pickup in other areas through the Fox Sports network. It is also available nationally and internationally on satellite dishes (Direct TV system channel 643 | Dish Network system channel 416). Last year's game attracted a crowd of 12,500 and more than 60 professional scouts were in Kingsville for the week of practices and the game. Numerous activities are held for the participants. Twenty-five of the players who participated in the 2001 game were drafted or signed as free agents by National Football League teams. Players drafted were Brian Crawford of Western Oregon, Minnesota; Colston Weatherington of Central Missouri, Dallas, and Onome Ojo of California Davis, New Orleans. More than 125 players from the game have been signed by NFL teams. Ron Harms, former Texas A&M-Kingsville athletic director and head football coach, is president of the Whataburger Cactus Bowl.
