Winston-Salem State safety Stephon Kelly and defensive end Robert Mackey will be joined by Virginia Union end James Atkins, Tuskegee end Damon Tolson and cornerbacks Keyon Nash (Albany State) and Michael Posey (Livingstone) on the East Team Defensive Squad.

Fort Valley State wide receiver Kent Schoolfield, Jr. is the lone HBCU representative on the East Offensive Team.

The NCAA Division II All-Star game was held in Fargo, N.D., for the first seven years. It was the Snow Bowl in North Dakota but underwent a name change when moved to South Texas last year.

Fox Sports Southwest will televise the game live Friday, January 11 at 6:30 pm (CST) from Texas A&M-Kingsville's Javelina Stadium. This is the second year the game has been played in Kingsville and it will be the second time the contest has been televised. Fox Sports Southwest can be seen throughout the Southwest Region of the nation, and is also available for pickup in other areas through the Fox Sports network. It is also available nationally and internationally on satellite dishes (Direct TV system channel 643 | Dish Network system channel 416).

Last year's game attracted a crowd of 12,500 and more than 60 professional scouts were in Kingsville for the week of practices and the game. Numerous activities are held for the participants.

Twenty-five of the players who participated in the 2001 game were drafted or signed as free agents by National Football League teams. Players drafted were Brian Crawford of Western Oregon, Minnesota; Colston Weatherington of Central Missouri, Dallas, and Onome Ojo of California Davis, New Orleans.

More than 125 players from the game have been signed by NFL teams.

Ron Harms, former Texas A&M-Kingsville athletic director and head football coach, is president of the Whataburger Cactus Bowl.
