Albany State University Golden Rams announce 2002 football scheduleFebruary 15, 2002Albany State University (ASU) Athletics Director John I. Davis and Head Football Coach James "Mike" White have announced the 2002 Golden Rams football schedule. Albany State's 11-game slate includes four home games at Hugh Mills Memorial Stadium, two football classics and two games against Gulf South Conference foes, Davis said. "The Golden Rams' 2002 campaign will be exciting, Davis said. "We look forward to playing great football in 2002." The Golden Rams' first four games will be at home at Hugh Mills Memorial Stadium in Albany. The season will kickoff with Gulf South Conference foe, Valdosta State University Blazers, on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. in Albany. The Rams will play the Miles College Golden Bears in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. and the University of West Georgia Braves, of the Gulf South Conference, on Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. The West Georgia game has been designated the Fourth Annual Band Day. ASU will play the Lane College Dragons on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., before hitting the road to Macon, Ga., to play the Savannah State University Tigers in the Fifth Annual Music City Classic on Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. The game is sponsored annually by the 100 Black Men of Macon. The Golden Rams will play the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers on Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. (CST) in Tuskegee, AL and travel to Frankfort, KY to take on the Kentucky State University Thorobreds on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. The Rams will return to Albany on Oct. 26 for the 2002 Homecoming celebration against the Clark Atlanta University Panthers. The homecoming game will kickoff at 1:30 p.m. ASU will face the new SIAC opponent, the Benedict College Tigers, on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. in Columbia, SC. (Benedict's homecoming). The Golden Rams will finish its regular season on Nov. 16 in the 13th Annual Fountain City Classic against conference rival, Fort Valley State University Wildcats.
