Lincoln Football Announces the 2002 ScheduleMay 10, 2002Jefferson City, MO - Lincoln University Head Football Coach Jack Bush, Jr. has announced the 2002 Football Schedule. Seven home dates with five games on the road, make up the 12 game football schedule that begins at Dwight T. Reed Stadium on Saturday, August 31st against the Mules of Central Missouri State University. "This coming season will be one full of optimism, an over .500 season is not out of the question even with the schedule we have playing high caliber teams such as Central Missouri State University, who were 10-2 last season, Tuskegee University, the Black College Champions and Northwestern Oklahoma State University, a former NAIA Division I National Champion two years removed," said Coach Bush about the season ahead. The home portion of the schedule will see visits from other schools like St. Joseph's College (IN), Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Northwestern Oklahoma, Augustana College (SD), Lane College (TN), and featuring Stillman College (AL) for Homecoming on October 12th, with the kick-off slated for 2:00pm. The road will take the Blue Tigers to an appearance in the 1st Annual Heritage Classic in Lexington, KY against the very tough Panthers of Clark-Atlanta University (GA). Other sites far from home will be Owensboro, KY to face Kentucky Wesleyan College, Tuskegee, AL to take on Tuskegee University, Langston, OK to battle the Lions of Langston University and will finish the regular season in Lawrenceville, VA to spar against St. Paul's College. The football program since its reincarnation in 1999 as a club sport and the 2000 season as an intercollegiate sport has increased the win totals in each of the first three years by a factor of one, "last year we knocked on the door of a winning season, this year we are going to kick that door down," said Coach Bush about the confidence of the Blue Tigers going into this fall. Lincoln Football is currently on a four game winning streak at Dwight T. Reed Stadium before meeting the Mules to kick-off the season this August. Lincoln "Blue Tiger" Football Schedule
