Albany State Golden Rams change 2003 football schedule
April 4, 2003
The Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams have made a change in the 2003 football schedule, Athletics Director Dr. John I. Davis has announced.
Albany State will play the Kentucky State University Thorobreds on Sept. 20, not Oct. 18 as originally scheduled. Davis said the change will give the Golden Rams an open date later in the season. Both teams agreed that the change in the schedule is beneficial to both schools.
"We are looking forward to another exciting season this year," Davis said. "We wanted to give the team a break before Homecoming on Nov. 1 so we can give our fans and supporters another exciting Homecoming game."
ASU's 11-game slate includes four home games at Hugh Mills Memorial Stadium, two football classics and two games against teams from different conferences, Davis said.
The Golden Rams will be on the road for the first three games, with trips
to Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga., on Aug. 30; Miles College
in Birmingham, Ala., on Sept. 6; and State University of West Georgia in
Carrollton on Sept. 13. The Rams will make their home debut against Kentucky
State on Sept. 20, before traveling to Jackson, Tenn., to face Lane College
on Sept. 27. The
Golden Rams will play Savannah State University in the Sixth Annual Music
City Classic in Macon, Ga. on Oct. 4; Tuskegee University in Albany on Oct.
11; Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta on Oct. 25; Benedict College in Albany
in the Homecoming game on Nov. 1; and Morehouse College in Albany on Nov.
8. The Golden Rams will play Fort Valley State University in the final regular
season game on Nov. 15 in the 14th Annual Fountain City Classic in Columbus,
Albany State University
