State University Golden Rams announce 2003 football schedule

Albany State University (ASU) Athletics Director Dr. John
I. Davis and Head Football Coach James "Mike" White
have announced the 2003 Golden Rams football schedule.
Albany State's 11-game slate includes four home games at Hugh
Mills Memorial Stadium, two football classics and two games
against teams from different conferences, Davis said.
"The Golden Rams are looking forward to another exciting
season this year. We promised our fans and supporters an exciting
2002 season and we delivered," Davis said. "We need
our alumni and supporters to help us financially to ensure a
continued first-class program."
The Golden Rams, who will be on the road for the first five
games, will kickoff the season against Gulf South Conference
foe, Valdosta State University Blazers, on Aug. 30 in Valdosta.
The team will travel to Birmingham, Ala., to face the Miles
College Golden Bears in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (SIAC) game on Sept. 6. ASU will hit the road to
Carrollton to face another Gulf South Conference foe, State
University of West Georgia Braves on Sept. 13.
The Golden Rams will travel to Jackson, Tenn., to face the
Lane College Dragons in an SIAC match-up on Sept. 27 before
meeting the Savannah State University Tigers in the Sixth Annual
Music City Classic in Macon, Ga. on Oct. 4. The game is sponsored
annually by the 100 Black Men of Macon.
The Golden Rams will have two back-to-back home games against
SIAC rivals on Oct. 11 against the Tuskegee University Tigers
and on Oct. 18 against the Kentucky State University Thorobreds.
ASU will visit Clark Atlanta University to face the Panthers
in an SIAC dual on Oct. 25.
Albany State will celebrate Homecoming '03 against the Benedict
College Tigers on Nov. 1, before playing host to the Morehouse
College Maroon Tigers on Nov. 8.
The Golden Rams will finish its regular season against conference
rival, Fort Valley State University Wildcats, on Nov. 15 in
the 14th Annual Fountain City Classic at Memorial Stadium in
Columbus, Ga.
