University and Cox Sports Television Sign Multi-Year Agreement
The regional sports network to become “Home
of Jaguars Athletics”

(NEW ORLEANS) - Southern University Chancellor, Dr. Edward R.
Jackson and Cox Sports Television (CST) head Rod Mickler announced
an extensive television and promotional partnership today. Through
this agreement, the network will produce over 25 Southern University
events each year. The telecasts begin later this month with
both men’s and women’s basketball. Additionally,
CST will produce tape-delayed coverage of selected football
games as well as men’s baseball, women’s softball,
track and field and other miscellaneous Jaguars events throughout
the year.
“Cox Sports Television is very pleased to begin this
new partnership with Southern University,” stated Mickler.
“The rich history and tradition of the school along with
their competitive play in all sports will make the Jaguars a
great addition to our network.” Additional elements of
the agreement call for joint promotions through the respective
web sites, re-airs of Jaguars coach’s shows, replays of
classic Jaguars games during the summer months and promotional
mentions and branding of CST during all home sporting events
throughout the year.
“This is an exciting announcement for all Jaguar fans,”
stated school Chancellor Edward Jackson. “Through this
new television agreement with Cox Sports Television, Southern
University will get tremendous exposure for the many fine student
athletes and great teams we field throughout the year.”
Southern University Athletic Director Floyd Kerr added, “Our
coaches’ are excited to have such a key recruiting tool
as this new television agreement. The Gulf Coast is also home
to many of our Alumni and fans who will now be able to follow
the Southern University Jaguars throughout the year.”
