Sacramento, CA South Carolina State sophomore Darryl Reeves tied for first in his flight in the long jump with a personal best performance to earned a spot in Friday’s final in the event at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships which runs through Saturday.
Reeves, an Augusta, Georgia native, had a career-best leap of 25-04.5 feet to tie Ohio State’s Drew Carter for first place in their flight and for the eighth-best time overall. Twelve jumpers advanced to Friday’s final, which gets underway at 6:45 p.m. PDT.
Reeves is one of two SCSU performers participating in the prestigious NCAA Championships. Retrina Lovett, a sophomore and also an Augusta native, is competing in the high jump, which got underway late Thursday.
