B-CC's Katie Clark Named MEAC Women's Rookie Of The Year

Greensboro, NC - Katie Clark of Bethune-Cookman College has been voted the
2002-03 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year by
the conference’s basketball coaches and sports information directors
and Watson headlines the women’s MEAC All-Rookie team.
Clark won the Rookie of the Year voting with a score of 68 out of a possible
100 points per person. Shareka Mia Glover of North Carolina A&T State
University finished second in the voting with 54 points.
Clark, a 5-8 freshman guard from New Iberia, Louisiana, is second on her
team in scoring with 10.7 points per contest to go along with 3.4 assists
and an assist-turnover ratio of 1.14.
Joining Clark on the MEAC All-Rookie team are Glover, Shenae Johnson of
Norfolk State University, Melaney Denson of South Carolina State University
and Jennyffer Vargas of Morgan State University.
Glover, a 5-5 freshman guard from Landover, Maryland, has won the Rookie of
the Week award twice this season and has helped turn around the Lady Aggies
program averaging 12.8 points, 4.76 assists and 3.43 steals per game.
Johnson, a 5-4 freshman guard from Chesapeake, Virginia, has averaged 10.5
points, 2.82 assists, 2.73 steals and leads the defending MEAC Tournament
Champions in 3-point field goal percentage at 32%. Denson, a 5-10 freshman
guard/forward from Ft. Pierce, Florida, has been great for the Lady Bulldogs
averaging 11.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and shooting 54% from the field.
Vargas, a 6-1 freshman center from Miami, Florida, has patrolled the lane
for the Lady Bears all season and leads the conference in blocks per game
with 2.25.
