Sonja Stills Appointed MEAC Director of Compliance

Greensboro, NC - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has appointed
Sonja Stills as Director of Compliance. “We welcome Ms Stills
to the MEAC and I know that she will be a great addition with
her skills and talents in compliance,” stated Commissioner Dennis
Thomas.

Stills is joining the MEAC after serving five years as Coordinator
of Academic Support for the Hampton University Department of
Athletics. She also served the past four years as Hampton’s
Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and was chair of the SWA’s
in the MEAC. Stills was responsible for monitoring and ensuring
that all student-athletes were meeting the level of academic
progress as set forth by the NCAA and the University’s standards.
Prior to her five-year tenure with the Department of Athletics,
she served as the Assistant to the Dean of Women at Hampton
from 1996-1998.
Ms Stills originates from Bradenton, FL and resided in Newport News, VA for
the majority of her life. She is a graduate of Menchville High and received
her B.S. in Counseling with a minor in Sociology from Old Dominion
University in 1992. In 1996, she received her Master’s Degree in Counseling
with an emphasis in College Student Work Personnel from Hampton University.
She recently graduated from the Sports Management Institute Executive
Program.
