Named UAPB Women's Basketball Coach

Angela Daniels, the head women's basketball coach at Edward Waters
College in Jacksonville, Florida, was recently named the new head
coach for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions.

Daniels, a former University of Florida basketball standout,
completely rebuilt the Edward Waters program during her four-year
tenure there. Daniels guided the Lady Tigers to a record-setting
year last season as her ball club compiled a school best 18-10
record.
Before taking over the coaching duties at Edward Waters, the
Lady Tigers had not won a game in three years. She compiled a
44-64 overall record while at Edward Waters.
Edward Waters, a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics (NAIA), completed its 2001-02 regular season with a
second place finish and won its first-ever EIAC Women's Basketball
tournament while receiving an automatic bid to the National NAIA
Tournament.
After finishing her collegiate career in 1989, Daniels served
as a graduate assistant at Florida for two years. Daniels held
assistant coaching positions at the University of Memphis (1991-92)
and the University of North Florida in Jacksonville (1992-94).
Daniels became the head women's basketball coach at Florida
Community College in Jacksonville from 1994-97. Prior to her tenure
at Edward Waters, she was head women's basketball coach at Quincy
(Florida) Shanks High School for one season (1998-99) where her
ball club posted a 20-4 record and reached the finals of the Class
4A championship game.
The 34-year old Daniels played forward at Florida, earning
several team and conference recognition's. As a high school senior,
she was named Jacksonville Female Athlete of the Year and inducted
into the Jacksonville Sports Hall of Fame in 1985.
Daniels and her husband, Bryan, have three children, Aaron,
8; Donovan, 3 and Danielle, 2.
