SC State announces 2004 Football Schedule

February 4, 2004

ORANGEBURG, SC South Carolina State will play an 11-game schedule during the 2004 football season, the university announced Tuesday. The slate includes five home games, one of which may be at an alternate site, and two classics, according to interim Director of Athletics Charlene M. Johnson.

The Bulldogs open the season Sept. 4 against intrastate rival Benedict in the third annual Palmetto Capital City Classic at Columbia, one of two major classics SCSU will participate in during the campaign. Coach Buddy Pough’s team will also play in the prestigious Coca Cola Circle City Classic at Indianapolis Oct. 2.

SCSU kicks off its home season Sept. 11 against Wofford in the Hall of Fame game, then travels to Savannah State Sept. 18. That contest will be followed by an open date Sept. 25.

Other home games include Bethune-Cookman, Oct. 16, which may be moved to an alternate site; Hampton (Youth/ROTC Day) Oct. 23; Howard (Homecoming), Nov. 6; and Morgan State (Senior Day), Nov. 13.

Additional road games will be at Norfolk State Nov. 9, at Delaware State Oct. 30, and at North Carolina A&T, Nov. 20, at a site to be determined.
