- Texas Southern University has named Steve Wilson as
its next football coach. He and TSU Athletic Director Alois Blackwell were
teammates on the Dallas Cowboys in 1979. Wilson was defensive coordinator at Bowie
State last year but is best known as the head coach at Howard from
1989-2001 where he led the Bison to a Black College National Championship in
1993. Wilson's career record at Howard, his only head coaching job, was 77-67.
