July 9, 2003

Cory M. Lima has joined the office staff of the Southwestern Athletic Conference and will serve as the Director of Championships.

Lima, a native of Atlanta, Georgia was drafted out of Redan High School by the Chicago Cubs. He chose, instead, to attend college and played collegiately as a pitcher at North Carolina A&T University where, in 1997, he earned a B.S. Degree in Sports Administration.

After college Lima played in the Florida Marlins organization and attended graduate school at Clark Atlanta University during the off-season earning his M.B.A. in Marketing in 2001.

Cory retired from professional baseball after five seasons and began his athletic administrative career in 2001 at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) in Atlanta, Georgia (2001-2002), serving as
Director of Compliance and Events Management. He also served the SIAC, briefly, as interim commissioner.

“ Cory is a consummate professional who is very multi-talented,” says SWAC Commissioner Robert Vowels. “He will be a great addition to our staff and has an understanding of the new game plan that is being implemented here at the Southwestern Athletic Conference.”
