TSU's Phillips and Cheesborough Named to Tennessee Women in Sports Top 10

Tennesse State Director of Athletics Teresa Phillips and women's track and field coach Chandra Cheesborough were named included in a listing of the top 10 most influential women in sports in the state of Tennessee. A survey of a panel of experts was conducted by the Nashville Tennessean newspaper to create the list.
Phillips finished second to Tennessee women's basketball Coach Pat Summit while Cheesborough came in seventh.
"There's a humbling effect because there are so many bright women out there, "Phillips said. "Coach Temple here at TSU has a saying, 'Success is when opportunity meets preparation.' I think I did some things preparing myself for this opportunity and there were others who certainly sacrificed to help me get here."
"You forge for the next generation. Hopefully what I will do now will forge some opportunity for some behind me to have even greater opportunities."
