Campbell leaves SCSU after a seven-year tenure, in which she compiled a 71-123 record, including a 9-19 mark for the 2003-04 campaign.

In announcing the resignation, interim athletics director Charlene Johnson said "The University would like to thank Coach Campbell for her contributions to the women's basketball program and we wish her the best in her future endeavors."

Campbell, a 1991 SCSU graduate and former All-MEAC performer for the Lady Bulldogs as a player, began her coaching tenure at SCSU during the 1997-98 season when she replaced Germaine McAuley. She was named MEAC Coach of the Year in 2000-01 after leading the Lady Bulldogs to an 18-11 mark and a second place finish in the MEAC during the regular season.

Johnson said a search for a successor would begin immediately, and that assistant coach Tonya Mackey would be in charge of the team until further notice.
