- In a game played in Saitama, Japan on Oct 30,
former Shaw standout & CIAA and
Division II Player of the Year Ronald "Flip" Murray made
his first NBA start since being drafted last year. Murray scored
24 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 34 minutes in the Sonics
109-100 win over the Clippers. He shot 10 for 17 from the floor
and hit two of six three-point attempts.

- Last year's CIAA Player of the
Year Patrick Pope has signed with the NBDL and
has been assigned to the Fayetteville Patriots as an allocated
player. The Patriots are coached by former Fayetteville
State mentor, Jeff Capel.
- Craig Payne has resigned his positions at Savannah
State University. In addition to working in the housing office,
Payne was an Assistant Football Coach (running backs) and Head
Men's and Women's Tennis Coach. His last day at the university
will be October 31, 2003.

Battle of the Bands Web Site Launches
- The 2003 SIAC Basketball Tip-Off
Press Conference/Luncheon will be held Friday, October 10 at
the Holiday Inn – Atlanta Airport North, 1380 Virginia Avenue.
Coaches, players and conference officials will be available in
preparation for the 2003- 2004 seasons for SIAC
men’s and women’s basketball. Master of Ceremonies for the affair
will be Travis Mitchell, Executive Vice President of Operations
for MBC Network.
