Hampton, VA – Hampton University defensive end and Preseason
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of
the Year, Isaac Hilton, has been selected to participate in
Isaac Hilton
the 2004 Hula Bowl in Maui. The game, which features the
top seniors throughout the country, will be played on January
17
at 8 p.m. and will be aired live on ESPN. He is the fourth
player from Hampton University in the past five years chosen
to play in the all-star game. In 2000, offensive lineman
Jason Thomas received an invitation, followed by running
back Montrell
Coley in 2001 and defensive end Greg Scott in 2002.
The 6-foot-5, 250 pound Hilton led the MEAC with 13 sacks
and 31 tackles for loss during the 2002 playing season. Against
Bowie State, he exploded for a school record six quarterback
sacks on his way to 10 total tackles on the afternoon. He ended
the season second on the team in tackles with 78, and for his
efforts was named to The Sports Network All-America Second
Team.
This season, the Charleston, SC native added to his résumé when
he was listed as one of 16 early candidates for the Buck Buchanan
Award, given annually to the top defensive player in Division
I-AA. Through four games, Hilton sits atop the conference standings
in tackles for loss with 13, while also recording three sacks.
