Hires Two New Faces in Women's Athletics
- The Hampton University football game versus Florida
A&M University on November 1 will be played at
Armstrong Stadium in Hampton, VA at 1:30 p.m. Negotiations
were in the works to move the game to Pacific Bell Park in
San Francisco for the inaugural Heritage Classic. However,
when promoters failed to provide an appropriate bank line of
credit to Hampton University, which covered the expenses of
the trip, discussions ceased. The deadline for completing the
negotiations was September 10.

- Charles Ward has announced his resignation
at Assistant AD/Sports Information Director at Clark
Atlanta University. Ward is leaving CAU to devote full
time to being play-by-play announcer for Florida A&M telecasts
on UBC.

Promotes Shera White to Director of Public Relations
- Jim McNally is the new sports information
director at N.C. A&T. McNally comes to Aggie
Land from the Carolina Peacemaker, where hw worked as a staff
writer and news editor. A narive of Philadelphia, McNally has
written for newspapers in Siler City, and Madison (both North
Carolina newspapers), and frelanced at ESPN-The Magazine and Triad
Style.

- Gregory Goings has been named Sports Information
Director at Bowie State University effective
September 12. A two-time CIAA Sports Information
Director of the Year while working at Virginia State,
Goings returns to the profession after leaving VSU three years
ago.
"I'm very excited about the opportunity but cautiously optimistic," said Goings. "I
must first and foremost thank my wife (Donna) for encouraging me to take this
leap back into the sports information profession. I look forward to getting to
know and working with the student-athletes and staff of Bowie State."

- Kickoff time for the Miles vs. Albany State football game on
Saturday, September 6 has been changed to 6:00 p.m. (Central
Time) The game will be played at the Albert J. Sloan-Alumni Stadium
at the Miles College campus.

- Dr. Catherine Wright, former Johnson C. Smith
associate professor and athletic director, died on Friday, August
29 at the Hospice Center in Durham. Funeral arrangements are
incomplete and will be announced by Ellis D Jones & Sons Funeral
Directors (419 Dowd Street, Durham, NC 27701, 919-688-1323).
The family will be at the home of her sister, Lois Wright, at
100 Tolber St. Dr, Durham, NC 27701.
Dr. Wright had a tremendous impact on the University as both
an academic and athletic administrator for more than 15 years.
She became the first female athletic director in 1998 and won
the CIAA Athletic Director of the Year Award in 2001.
