Memorial Service For Clarence "Big
House" Gaines Moved To LJVM Annex

Winston-Salem, NC - Winston-Salem State University officials announced on Thursday
afternoon that the Gaines family has decided to move the memorial service for
legendary WSSU basketball coach, Clarence "Big House" Gaines to the
LJVM Annex due to its larger capacity to accomodate those people wishing to pay
their respects to Coach Gaines.
The service, originally scheduled for the K.R. Williams Auditorium on the campus
of WSSU is anticipated to bring far more attendees than the Williams Auditorioum
could hold, and therefore the change was made. The visitation will continue to
be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM with the memorial service lasting from 2:00 PM
- 3:00 PM.
Russell Funeral Home is handling all the arrangements for the visitation and
memorial service and can be reached via telephone at (336) 722-3459. The Gaines
family has requested that no floral arrangements be sent to their residence or
the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that those who wish to do so, donate
to the C.E Gaines Endowed Scholarship Fund at Winston-Salem State University
by sending contributions to:
