PVAM product promoted to 49ers National Scout

The San Francisco 49ers have promoted Brian Gardner to national scout, it was
announced today. Gardner is in his 10th year with the team and previously served
as a regional scout for the 49ers.
"We are excited to have Brian Gardner with us as National Scout," 49ers General Manager Terry Donahue said. "He will still be covering his same region as before, but will now be doing more on the National level to evaluate more players for the organization. He is an extremely capable and very knowledgeable personnel man who certainly warrants this promotion. I am certain that Brian has a tremendous future in the area of Personnel in the NFL.
Prior to joining San Francisco in 1995, Gardner spent three seasons as a scout for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
His football background includes time in the Arena Football League with the New Orleans Night franchise as both defensive coordinator and Director of Player Personnel. He also served as Director of Player Personnel and receivers coach for the Washington Marauders of the Professional Spring Football League.
Gardner played three seasons in the Arena Football League with New England, Pittsburgh and New York. He spent time in the CFL with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and with the Barcelona Dragons in the orginal World Football League (WLAF).
A standout athlete in college, Gardner orginally signed with Nicholls State and played their for one season before transferring to Prairie View A&M. At Prairie View, Gardner was a three-year starter and letterman at wide receiver. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications.
Gardner is a native of New Orleans. Married, he and his wife Vanessa have two sons (Royal and Tyler).
