SID leaves for position at Troy State

TROY, Ala. - The Troy State University athletics department has hired Ricky
Hazel as its Director of Athletics Media Relations
Hazel joins the staff as the Director of Athletics Media Relations and is responsible for the overall operation of the Trojans’ athletic media relations department, including publicity for all 17 sports teams.
The Huntsville, Ala., native comes to Troy following a 10-month stint at
Alabama A&M University.
Prior to working at Alabama A&M, Hazel served as the Sports Information Director and Assistant Director of Athletics for Media Relations at Marshall University in Huntington, W.V. Hazel handled all aspects of publicity for the Thundering Herd football program, and his efforts resulted in coverage of the Marshall football program in The New York Times and The Washington Post in addition to a variety of national magazines. Hazel arrived at Marshall after more than five years as Assistant Media Relations Director at the University of Southern Mississippi. He received his bachelor's degree from Alabama in 1988 in broadcasting and earned a master's in sports administration from Southern Miss in 1995.
