Grambling State interim head football coach Melvin Spears has had
his credentials questioned by University president Horace Judson.
In a statement released by the school, Judson indicated that Spears had apparently
not earned a master's degree from Northern Arizona University as he stated
on his employment application.
"Mr. Spears indicated to me that he has been working with officials at
Northern Arizona University for the past six months to clear up this matter," Judson
said in the statement.
"While a master's degree is not a requirement to coach here, it is essential
that all information submitted on official employment applications be accurate
and certifiable."
Judson has given Spears one week to produce documentation which verifies that
he has an earned master's degree from NAU.
