Jackson comes to Howard from the University of Pennsylvania where he served
as an assistant coach. As the lead assistant at Penn, his major
achievements included nine Ivy League Championships, as well as nine births
to the NCAA tournament.
“I could not be happier
with Coach Jackson joining the Howard University family,” said
President H. Patrick Swygert. “Coach
Jackson’s talent, experience and dedication will help lead Howard’s
basketball program to the next level of athletic competition.”
After completing a successful high school coaching career-twice being
named Coach of the Year in the State of Delaware, Jackson moved to
the University of Pennsylvania to serve as an Assistant, working his way
to become a top Assistant. He began his coaching career at the Sanford
School, in Hockessin, DE as the Head Varsity Basketball Coach. He later
moved on to a 15 year tenure with Fran Dumphy as his assistant coach
at one of the nation’s most successful programs during
that time period – The University of Pennsylvania.
