Patterson Named Permanent Head Men’s
Basketball Coach at Kentucky State

Frankfort, KY – Thomas Patterson has been named head men’s
basketball coach at Kentucky State University after serving as
interim head coach the past two seasons. During that period (2003-2005)
the Thorobreds complied a 8-21 and 15-15 record respectively.

“I appreciate the direction that Coach Patterson is
taking our men’s basketball program and look forward
to the future. We are pleased to have him continue with the
university. There are certainly brighter days ahead for the
KSU Men’s Basketball,” said Ms. Derita Ratcliffe,
KSU Athletics Director.
Coach Patterson will have an exciting team returning for next
season. Kyle Allen, a 6’3, 170 lb. junior guard from
Nashville, Tenn., was the team’s leading scored at 14
ppg. Daniel Hawkins, a 6’4, 225 lb. sophomore forward
from Jamaica Queens, New York, lead the team with 49 blocked
shoots and averaged 7.6 boards. Hawkins also scored 13.4 ppg.
Deshondre Watters, a 5’5, 130 lb. freshman guard from
Louisville, Ky., scored 10.7 ppg while directing the Thorobreds’ offensive
attack. Watters also dished out a team high 141 assists and
collected 68 steals. Kenny Jones, a 6’6, 240 lb. freshman
forward from Long Island, New York averaged 10.2 ppg and 6
boards and Scott Reynolds, a 6’7, 232 lb. junior forward
from Louisville, Ky., recorded 38 blocks and averaged 5.2 boards.
“It’s a relief and a honor to be chosen for the
position and I’m excited about the group of players returning,” said
Coach Patterson.
