NSU Announces 2005 Football Schedule
March 22, 2005
NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State University athletics director
Marty Miller and head football coach Pete Adrian have released
the Spartans’ 2005 football schedule.
Included on the 11-game schedule are six home games, including
the annual Labor Day Classic and Fish Bowl Classic games. NSU
also hosts the Battle of the Bay matchup with Hampton this
season, on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.
NSU kicks off the season on Sep. 3 with Virginia State in
the Labor Day Classic. The old CIAA rivals kick off at 6 p.m.
NSU also hosts Bethune-Cookman on Sep. 24 in the Fish Bowl
Classic. Kick-off at Dick Price Stadium is 1 p.m.
Other home games include South Carolina State on Oct. 8, which
has been slated as Youth Day, Howard University for the 2005
homecoming on Oct. 29, and Liberty University on Nov. 19. The
Flames of the Big South Conference return to NSU’s schedule
after a one-year hiatus, returning the game NSU played in Lynchburg
in 2003.
The Spartans have road contests at North Carolina A&T
(Sep. 10), Savannah State (Oct. 1), Florida A&M (Oct. 22),
Morgan State (Nov. 5) and Delaware State (Nov. 12). FAMU returns
to the MEAC this season after rescinding their plans to move
to Division I-A. The Rattlers will be eligible for the conference
title again this fall.
