May 30, 3005

The NCAA Division I Baseball Committee announced all 64 participants and 16 regional sites for the 59th annual NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. Each regional field features four teams, playing a double-elimination format.

Southern earned an automatic bid in the Regional after winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament with a dramatic 6-5, 15-inning victory over Prairie View A&M in Birmingham, Ala. The Jaguars enter the Regional 29-15 on the year, including the SWAC West title courtesy of a 17-7 mark in league action. Alabama and Louisiana-Lafayette will meet in the second game of the New Orleans Regional.

Thirty Division I conferences received an automatic berth in the field of 64, along with 34 at-large selections.
