Union Men's Basketball Team to visit White House
May 31, 2005
The Virginia Union University men’s basketball team will be the guests
of President George W. Bush at the White House in Washington, D.C., at 5 p.m.
on Monday, June 6, 2005.
The team, fresh from winning the Division II national championship this past
March, will be at the White House Celebration of Black Music Month, to be held
in the Indian Treaty Room of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington,
D.C.
This will mark the first time a VUU team has been invited to the White House
after winning the national championship.
The Eisenhower Executive Office Building is located next to the West Wing, and
houses a majority of offices for White House staff. Originally built for the
State, War and Navy Departments between 1871 and 1888, the EEOB is an impressive
building that commands a unique position in both our national history and architectural
heritage.
