UMES
adds two to sports information staff

Kevin Alcox, a 2004 graduate of Frostburg State University, and Chevonne Mansfield,
a 2004 graduate of St. John's University, have been named Assistants in the Sports
Information and External Affairs Department at the University of Maryland
Eastern Shore. The announcement was made by Athletic Director Nelson Townsend
and Sports Information Director Stan Bradley.
A native of Hempstead, NY, Mansfield comes to UMES from St. John's University where
she was a student assistant in the athletic communications department. While with the
Red Storm, Mansfield assisted in game day operations for various sporting events
including several basketball games at Madison Square Garden.
A member of the New York Knicks Public Relations Game Night Staff for three years,
Mansfield has also worked in special events with the New York Jets and overseas with
the Leicester Riders Basketball Club in Leicester, England.
As an undergraduate at Ashland University (Ohio), Alcox received his bachelor degree in
Sports Communications and Electronic Media Sales and Management.
Over the past few years Alcox has worked in many different areas of professional
sports, working for professional organizations like the Orlando Magic (NBA), Cleveland
Cavaliers (NBA), and the Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians double-A farm team).
Most recently he worked as the head sports writer and editor for a Columbus (Ohio)
online magazine, ColumbusWiredOnline.com where he covered the Columbus Blue
Jackets (NHL), Columbus Crew (MLS), PGA, NCAA Soccer Final Four, and other major
area sporting events.
