- The Montgomery
Advertiser has reported that former Tennessee
State and Alabama State head football coach L.C.
Cole has been approved as the new
football coach and athletic director at Sidney
Lanier High School in Montgomery.
Most recently, Cole had been an assistant coach, with his brother
Johnny, at Lane College.

Program
- Bethune-Cookman has
announced that it will not renew
the appointment of current women’s
and men’s
track & field head coach Walter
McCoy for the 2006-07 academic
term.
- Grambling State is
looking for three new head coaches. Baseball
coach James Randall, softball
coach Connie Garcee and
soccer coach Cesar Martinez have
all been let go.
- Jackson State baseball
coach Mark Salter will
not be returning next season. His contract
expires on June 30 and school officials
have announced that it will not be renewed.

Division I Baseball Playoffs
- After taking a 5-1 lead, Prairie
View A&M dropped
a 6-5 decision to Rice in the first round of the NCAA
Division I Baseball Houston Regional.
The Panthers will face the loser of
the Baylor vs. Arizona State game, Saturday
evening at 8:00pm. Baylor and Arizona
State will resume their rain-delayed
game Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm.
- Bethune Cookman dropped
a 3-2 decision to Mississippi in the Oxford
Baseball Regional. The Wildcats will face
Tulane at 2:00pm Saturday afternoon. Tulane
lost to South Alabama, 7-1, Friday.

- ECSU Coaches Help
Pull Two Men To Safety following Athletic Retreat
- The Prairie View A&M vs.
Rice NCAA Baseball Playoff game will be
televised live on CSTV, Friday, June 2
at 5:00pm Eastern Time. CSTV is televising
the entire Houston Regional so PVAM will
appear again on Saturday at either 1:00pm
(if they lose) or 5:00pm (if they win
Friday's matchup). More information is
