Gil Marchman Named New Coordinator of
SWAC Football Officials

Gil Marchman has been named the new Coordinator
of Football Officials for the Southwestern
Athletic Conference. Marchman replaces George
Coleman who has served in that capacity since
1999.
Marchman, comes to the SWAC from the Big Ten
Conference where he served as an assistant
to the Supervisor of Officials since 1972.
He brings 42 years of experience as an NCAA
official, 35 years with the Big Ten Conference.
He has worked eleven major bowl games (4 as
Referee, 5 as Line Judge) and has been inducted
into three football officials Halls of Fame.
Marchman will coordinate the training and assignment
of Southwestern Athletic Conference football
officials.
“We are extremely happy to have a person
with Mr. Marchman’s experience,” said
SWAC Commissioner Robert Vowels. “Through
his association with the Big Ten, Gil has developed
extensive knowledge of officiating skills and
mechanics and I feel he will be a definite
asset in the continued development of our football
officials.” Vowels continued, “We
are grateful for the years of dedicated service
by George Coleman and wish him the best in
all his endeavors.”
