MVSU Devilettes fall in opening round
of NCAA Softball Regional

Tuscaloosa, Ala. --- The
Mississippi Valley State Devilettes quest to
win their first ever NCAA Regional suffered
a setback today when they dropped a 8-0 decision
to fourth ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in the
opening round of the 2006 NCAA Regional Tournament.
The Devilletes never could get on track failing
to place a runner on base in the four and a
half inning game, while the host Tide pounded
out eight hits in the winning effort.
Freshman, pitcher Nikki Stouder (7-9) suffered
the loss going the distance for the Devilettes.
Valley now having to advance to the finals
through the loser’s bracket will face
the Rattlers of Florida A&M in an elimination
game at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow. The Rattlers
suffered a 9-3 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow
Jackets in the tournament opener.
Georgia Tech will face Alabama at 1:00 p.m
