The MEAC Champion Bethune-Cookman Wildcats and SWAC Champion
Prairie View A&M Panthers begin their quest for an NCAA
Baseball Championship Friday June 2.
B-CC will be traveling to Oxford, Mississippi competing in
the Oxford (Miss.) Regional for the first two rounds while
PVAM has a date against top ranked Rice University in Houston,
Texas.
The Wildcats (30-25) will be taking on Ole Miss (40-20) at
7 p.m. (CST) on June 2. The ‘Cats will then either face-off
against the winner or loser of the South Alabama (38-19) vs.
Tulane (41-19) contest—depending on the outcome of their
game against Ole Miss.
The Panthers (33-20), are ranked #4 in their Regional, and
will face the #1 ranked Owls (50-10) at 4:00p, CT, Friday,
June 2, 2006 . The regional also features an opening round
game between the #3 ranked Baylor Bears (35-24) and the #2
ranked Arizona State Sun Devils (36-19) at 8:00p.
The NCAA Regional, a double-elimination tournament, will be
played Friday through Monday, June 2-5, 2006. Games three (loser
Gm 1 v loser Gm 2) and four (winner Gm 1 v winner Gm2) will
be played on Saturday, June 3. Games 5 and 6 are scheduled
for Sunday. The Regional Championship game is set for Monday,
June 5th and 7:00p. The winner of the Regional will advance
to Super Regional play before advancing to the 60th Annual
College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska on June 16th.
