MEAC announces 2005-06 Basketball Television Schedule

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced its basketball television schedule for the 2005-06 season. As part of the league’s agreement with ESPNU, the network will combine with ESPN2 to air eight regular-season men’s games, two regular-season women’s games, and both conference championship finals.

The 2005-06 schedule features a full-day of action on ESPNU and ESPN2 on Monday, January 16 as part of the Martin Luther King Holiday. Four MEAC games are schedule to air beginning with Bethune-Cookman and North Carolina A&T on ESPN2 live at Noon from the Corbett Sports Center in Greensboro, N.C. The B-CC-A&T game will be followed by defending MEAC Champions Delaware State, who will take on the University of Maryland- Eastern Shore on ESPNU at 2 p.m., and then Norfolk State vs. Morgan State at 6 p.m. The final game of the King Holiday is the first of two televised women’s games as Delaware State takes on UMES in a taped-delayed broadcast on ESPNU at 10 p.m.

Hampton University and Howard University will open the MEAC television slate on January 9, as the two “HUs” battle for bragging rights at the Hampton Convocation Center. Hampton, last year’s tournament runner-ups, will appear four times on ESPNU, including a double-header with the women in a classic match-up against Coppin State on February 13.

Preseason favorites South Carolina State will be featured in the league’s two Friday night games, as they host Delaware State on February 3 and Hampton on February 24. Both games are schedule for 9 p.m. Bethune- Cookman and Norfolk State wrap up the regular-season schedule on Wednesday, March 1 at 10 p.m.
