Alcorn State hires new SID

ALCORN STATE, Miss. - Josh Bean has been hired as Alcorn State's
Sports Information Director.
Bean, 31, spent the past 10 years working for newspapers around
the South, and he replaces Tyrone Broxton, who left last month
to become the Sports Information Director at the U.S. Merchant
Marine Academy.
Bean will now coordinate promotion and media relations efforts
for Alcorn State's entire athletic program.
"I am privileged to join the Alcorn State family, and
I hope to build on many of the innovative projects that Tyrone
started," Bean said.
Bean arrives at Alcorn State after working as a sports editor
for the TimesDaily in Florence, Ala., from 2001-05. He has
also worked for the Daily Mountain Eagle in Jasper, Ala., Meridian
(Miss.) Star, Columbus (Ga.) Ledger-Enquirer and High Point
(N.C.) Enterprise.
Bean, a 1994 magna cum laude graduate of Walker College and
a 1996 cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama, lives
in Natchez with his wife, Kerry.
