Albany State Golden Rams crowned SIAC Champs

Despite a 5th seed ranking entering the SIAC Tournament, the Golden Rams of Albany State defeated the number two ranked Wildcats of Fort Valley State University to claim the SIAC Title, 54-50.
Senior Guard Frank Pinson led the way to the Golden Ram title with a 15-point, five rebound performance. Senior Travon McGruder chipped in eight points and seven rebounds and Sophomore Guard Sean Glenn added another eight points.
In a game that had 14 lead changes and 11 ties, the Golden Rams took advantage of 18 points off turnovers to beat Fort Valley. The Wildcats were led by Junior Milton Meadows who finished with 13 points and five assists. Chauncey Hall added nine points and nine rebounds.
The SIAC Title was the seventh for Albany State and the first for first-year Head Coach Chris Cameron who was named Outstanding Tournament Coach. Pinson and McGruder were selected to the SIAC All Tournament Team and Pinson was named tournament most valuable player.
Fort Valley’s Meadows and Hall were selected to the SIAC All Tournament team and the Wildcats finished the season with an 18-12 record.
The Golden Rams (15-16) will now represent the SIAC in the NCAA Regional Tournament.
