Onnidan Online launches web location for streaming media
August 11, 2006
Onnidan’s Black College Sports Online,
considered by many to be the most comprehensive
source on the Internet for sports information
about America’s Historically Black Colleges
and Universities, is expanding its content
into streaming media. Beginning today,
Onnidan Online will host webcasts of various
events related to Black College sports.
“We’ve been providing news, scores,
schedules, standings and selected poll information
for the past nine years,” said Eric Moore,
Managing Editor. “And our Fan Forum
has been a popular location for discussion
of issues of interest to Black College sports
fans.”
“Now we’re moving into streaming
media beginning with audio webcasts of three
of the four Black College conference football
roundups and excerpts from two press conferences
we were able to attend.”
Begun in November, 1996, Onnidan Online has
been exclusively devoted to covering sports
information related to HBCUs. In addition
to its newsroom, composite schedules and Fan
Forum, the site also hosts electronic versions
of the Black College Sports Page,
a weekly syndicated newspaper insert that is
distributed to African-American newspapers
through the country.
The site accumulated nearly two million page
views in the past year and averages just under
1,700 users per day.
“We’ve been pleasantly surprised
with our growth over the years,” said
Moore. “We hope that this addition
will serve our visitors well.”
