Clark Atlanta names Darryl Jacobs head men's basketball
coach

Atlanta, GA – Clark Atlanta University has named Darryl
Jacobs as head men's basketball coach. Jacobs is a former assistant
coach at the University of Delaware.

“Without question, the pool of candidates for this
position was extremely impressive. Among the field, Coach Jacobs
stood out because of his knowledge of the game and his articulated
vision for reviving Panther Basketball,” said CAU Director
of Athletics Brenda Edmond-Square in announcing the appointment. “I
want to thank the members of the search committee for facilitating
this selection. I am convinced that Coach Jacobs has the ability
to re-shape Panther Basketball.”

re-build Panther Basketball into an SIAC powerhouse. I am appreciative
of the confidence that President Broadnax and Mrs. Edmond-Square
have placed in me. I am committed to the goal of building a
quality program here at CAU based on sound basketball fundamentals
and attracting model, student-athletes,” Coach Jacobs
said.
The Paterson, New Jersey native earned his degree from William
Penn University. As a two-sport student-athlete, Jacobs earned
all conference honors in basketball and was a running back
on the university’s football team. Jacobs played professional
basketball in the United States Basketball League and in Peru.
Prior to his assistant coaching assignment at the University
of Delaware, Jacobs was the Head Basketball Coach at Felician
College in Lodi, New Jersey. During his five-year tenure he
compiled a 75-69 overall record highlighted by the school’s
first conference championship in 2003-04. Jacobs was selected
Central Athletic Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year in
that same year.
From 1998 – 2000 Jacobs served as Head Coach at Lehman
College in the Bronx, New York. There, he led the Lightning
to two consecutive Hudson Valley Athletic Conference Championships.
