MEAC and SWAC Men's Champs learn post season fate

MEAC Men's Tourney Champ Florida A&M, regular season champ Delaware State and SWAC regular season titlist Mississippi Valley State begin post season play Tuesday while SWAC Tournament winner Jackson State starts its playoff quest on Friday.

Florida A&M will meet Niagra Tuesday night (Mar 13) in Dayton for the right to be the 64th team in the NCAA Division I Men's Championship Tournament. The winner of the opening round matchup will face Kansas in a first round game Friday, March 16 at the United Center in Chicago.

Delaware State and Mississippi Valley State received automatic bids to the National Invitational Tournament.

DSU begins first round play Tuesday night in Morgantown, WV when they face West Virginia. Tipoff is at 7:00pm.

Still smarting from a last second defeat at the MEAC Tournament, the Hornets now get to take on one of four top-seeded teams in the NIT. The Mountaineers are the top seed in the East joining Mississippi State in the North, Air Force in the West, and Clemson in the South.

MVSU will travel 100 miles due East to Starkville, MS to face Mississippi State as their first round opponent in the NIT.

The Delta Devils were upset by Jackson State in the SWAC Tournament but earned the automatic bid thanks to their regular season title.

JSU enters the post season on Friday when they face defending champion Florida in the second game of the evening session of the Div I Men's Championship Tournament at the New Orleans Arena.

Purdue and Arizona will face each other at 7:20 p.m. ET (6:20 p.m. local time) and the Gators and Tigers will follow 30 minutes after.
