Jackson State and Coppin State women get WNIT bids

Regular season champions Jackson State (SWAC) and Coppin State (MEAC) have received automatic bids to the first 48-team field in the history of the Postseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
For the first time, each of the nation’s 31 conferences will be represented in the WNIT. The tournament expanded to 48 teams this year to accommodate an automatic berth for each of the conferences.
The WNIT kicks off postseason action Wednesday, with first-round games. Sixteen teams will play in that round, and then feed into 16 second-round games.
JSU tips off Wednesday when the Lady Tigers visit Tulane.
CSU's first game is Thursday at St. Joseph's.
Times will be announced later.
All games throughout the tournament are held on the campuses of participating schools, and no seeds are designated.
