CIAA Board of Directors Establish New Pioneer Bowl Selection Criteria

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Board of Directors established new selection criteria for determining the CIAA representative for the Pioneer Bowl, at their September meeting.
With the new system, the CIAA Commissioner Leon G. Kerry, selects the Pioneer Bowl representative from conference football teams that have a .500 overall percentage or better.
With these new selection criteria in place, the following schools are in contention to represent the CIAA in the Pioneer Bowl. Check back with us each week to see who is still on the road to the Pioneer Bowl!

The Battle of the Bands Voting Contest Is Heating Up!
With over 12,300 votes and counting, the Pioneer Bowl Battle of the Bands voting competition is on fire! Every week, fans are encouraged to visit www.PioneerBowl.com and vote for their favorite CIAA of SIAC school band. At the end of the competition, the two top bands with the most votes will receive an invitation to compete at the Battle of the Bands competition. The winning school will receive $5,000 and the second place will also receive a monetary reward.
The Battle of the Bands will be a pre-game activity, beginning at 12:00 Noon on December 2, 2006.
Voting Results as of October 22, 2006
The top voted CIAA band is Virginia State University with 2,323 votes. Trailing the Trojans is North Carolina Central University with 2,026 votes. What a close competition!
On the SIAC side, Benedict is leading the conference with 1,535 votes, followed by Albany State with 1,349.
