Kentucky State releases 2008 Football Schedule

The Kentucky State University football schedule is complete. The 2008 season will feature 2 major classics and 4 home games for the Thorobreds.

KSU opens the 2008 season with a night, home SIAC conference game against Lane College (8/30 at 7 pm). The Thorobreds next hit the road for a Saturday afternoon contest against the St. Joseph’s College Pumas (09/6 at 12 pm CST) in the first non-conference game of the season.

The Thorobreds return home to face the Albany State Golden Rams (09/13 at 1 pm) in their second SIAC conference game of the season and stay home the following week for another SIAC conference showdown against the Clark-Atlanta Panthers (09/20 at 1 pm).

KSU hits the road for St. Louis and the Gateway Classic to face the Stillman College Tigers (9/27 at 3 pm) in another SIAC showdown. This game will be played in the Edward Jones Dome, home of the NFL’s St. Louis Cardinals. The following week KSU travels to Indianapolis for the Circle City Classic to renew their rivalry against the Central State Marauders (10/4 at 1 pm). This game will be played at the new Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.

The Thorobreds return to Frankfort for Homecoming 2008 and will face the Fort Valley State Wildcats (10/11 at 1:30 pm) in an important conference match-up.

The Thorobreds will finish the season with 4 consecutive SIAC conference road games. First, the Thorobreds will travel to face the Miles College Golden Bears (10/18 at 1 pm CST). Next, KSU will travel to take on the Tuskegee Golden Tigers (10/25 at 1 pm CST). The following week KSU travels to take on the Benedict College Tigers (11/1 at 2 pm) and will finish the regular season against the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers (11/8 at 1 pm)

“I am extremely excited about the 2008 football season. Our kids have been preparing very hard this off-season and we are looking to take positive steps forward in 2008,” said Coach Farrier.

Kentucky State will be entering the fourth season with Fred T. Farrier as head football coach. The Thorobreds enjoyed consecutive winning seasons in his first two seasons as head coach and his win total of 13 in his first two seasons as head coach is the most wins of any head coach in school history during their first two years as head coach. The 2007 season was highlighted by 5 first-team All-SIAC selections, 3 second-team All-SIAC selections and 2 All-SIAC academic selections. Kentucky State opens the 2008 season on August 30th against Lane College in Alumni Stadium at 7 pm.
