Duck succeeds Sykes as Virginia Union SID

Following a two year stint as a graduate assistant SID at Virginia State, Tamika Duck has been named sports information director at her alma mater, Virginia Union University.
“It’s a dream come true,” Duck said during an interview with the Petersburg Progress-Index. “I’m so blessed. Right now, it’s still unbelievable.”
Duck played basketball for Virginia Union for two years and graduated in 2007. During her senior year, she worked for Jim Junot, VUU SID and followed Junot when he became SID at VSU. She will earn a Masters' Degree from Virginia State in May.
Her first day on the job was January 5 where she succeed Tiffani Sykes, who left after two years to pursue a graduate degree at Grambling State.
Duck becomes the second assistant SID to move up to the top job at a CIAA school.
Lamont Hinson, former assistant at Fayetteville State, began working as SID at Johnson C. Smith on January 2.
