- Randy Jones, sports information director at Elizabeth City State has resigned to take a similar position at Norfolk State. A 1996 graduate of ECSU, Jones had served as SID for three years prior to his departure. He succeeds Chris Johnson, who left NSU in January.
- Four Black College players were selected in the NFL draft over the weekend. In the fifth round, Scotty Anderson, a wide receiver from Grambling State, was picked by the Detroit Lions and Darnerian McCants, a receiver from Delaware State was selected by the Redskins.
In the sixth round, S.C. State tight end Arther Love was selected by New England and Kentucky State defensive back Carey Scott was picked by the Vikings.
- No Black College players were selected in the WNBA draft last Friday despite having five players participate in the pre-draft camp.
