| Elizabeth City, NC---Elizabeth City State University has releasedthe 2001 Viking Football schedule. The Vikings and second year head coachJohn Wright will play five home games and face two new opponents in 2001. The Vikings will begin there ten game season by hosting Kutztown onAugust 25th in Roebuck Stadium. This will be the first ever meeting betweenKutztown and ECSU. In September, the Vikings will take to the road for two consecutiveweeks. They face Virginia Union on Sept. 1, and then travel to FayettevilleState on September 8th. ECSU returns home on Sept. 15th, as they host theTigers of Morehouse College. The 3rd Annual "Down East Viking FootballClassic" will be held on September 22nd as the Vikings and North CarolinaCentral do battle in Rocky Mount, NC. Lincoln University (MO) will makeit's first ever trip to Elizabeth City on September 29th. The Vikings will visit CIAA foe Virginia State on Oct. 6th. ECSUwill host the Bulldogs of Bowie State on Oct. 13, and Homecoming 2001 willbe celebrated on Oct. 20th as Livingstone College invades Roebuck Stadium. ECSU closes out the regular season against two-time defending CIAA championWinston-Salem State on Nov.3rd.
