Bethune-Cookman wins softball play-in; advances to NCAA tourneyMay 11, 2001Cookeville, TN - LaTasha Robertson went 2 for 3 with one RBI to lead Bethune-Cookman College to a 2-0 victory over host Tennessee Tech to win the NCAA play-in softball series and advance to the NCAA tournament May 17 at a site to be determined. The Wildcats, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champions, put together a six-hit performance to defeat the Ohio Valley Conference champions in the best of three series. B-CC split with Tennessee Tech, 4-2 and 0-9, Thursday to force Friday's decisive game. This is the second-straight year the Bethune-Cookman (45-21) has advanced to the NCAA tournament through the play-in. Earning the win on Friday was MEAC Rookie-of-the-Year Jessica Cabato, who also led the Wildcats to victory last Sunday in the MEAC championship game. Tennessee Tech finishes the season 44-20.
