Mississippi Valley State releases two coaches

ITTA BENA, MS -- Mississippi Valley State University's head women's basketball and volleyball coach Jessie Harris, along with assistant basketball and head softball coach Bernita Alexander, have been relieved of their coaching and administrative duties, effective June 30.

The University will immediately begin a national search to fill all three positions.

New MVSU Director of Athletics Lonza Hardy, Jr. cited a need for a new direction in the programs as the major reason for making the coaching changes.

Although he has not contacted any potential candidates, Hardy said he hopes to bring in someone as soon as possible to finish the recruiting season, hire a coaching staff and get the programs up and running.

"MVSU is grateful for the many years of diligent service which it has received from both Jessie and Bernita. They have both worked hard to positively affect the lives of the student-athletes they've coached during their time here. We appreciate them and we wish them nothing but the best in their future." Hardy said.
