| St. Aug, Al-Hassan and Golsova take S.E. Region Cross Country titles Morehouse finishes fourth in South RegionNovember 6, 2000St. Augustine's College captured the men's team title in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships in Greensboro, NC, Saturday. Led by individual champion Alhaji Al-Hassan, the Falcons grabbed three of the top four spots to outdistance Barton College, 38 to 93 points. Al-Hassan, who won the CIAA individual championship on October 26, completed the 10K men's course in 32:31. He and his St. Aug teammates advance to the Division II national championships, November 18 in Pomona, CA. N.C. Central's Katerina Glosova won the women's individual championship finishing the 6K course at Bryan Park in 23:13. Glosova, CIAA women's champion, also earned a trip to the Division II nationals in California. In the South Regional in Jacksonville, FL, SIAC Champion Morehouse finished fourth overall in the men's competition. SIAC individual champion Christopher Irumve came in third with a time of 32:52. Morehouse runner Wilson Koros finished fifth. In the women's competition, SIAC Champion Fort Valley State finished 17th overall. Vernika Reeves was the best performer for the Lady Wildcats finishing 58th overall. |
