Saint Paul's goes inside and outside to fill two athletics positionsOctober 6, 2000Saint Paul's College has filled two positions in its athletics department from inside and outside the University. LeRoy Bacote has been named athletics director and Jeff Bernstein has been appointed head men's basketball coach. Both positions became open when interim AD and head men's basketball coach Ed "Buck" Joyner left to become head men's basketball coach at Livingstone. Bacote is a longtime administrator at Saint Paul's having served as Director of Financial Aid and Director of Facilities during the past 12 years. The 1962 graduate of N.C. A&T has also worked at Virginia State University during his career. Bernstein comes to the Lawrenceville, VA campus from Voorhees (SC) College where he had been head men's basketball coach for the past four years. He served as head women's basketball coach at Voorhees for a year prior to taking over the top men's position. Bernstein is a 1973 graduate of the University of Georgia and earned a master's degree from South Carolina State in 1981. The Brooklyn, NY native has coached at the high school level for eleven years before taking his first college coaching position at Voorhees. He brings a career record of 90-68 to Saint Paul's in five years of college coaching.
